Hi Messaouda.
How are you? It’s nice to hear from you. I am very happy to hear that you will come to Britain next year.. If you’re English is not very good it is difficult. I think when you first come here it is quite difficult to understand our language. But don’t worry it’s fine.
When I first came here and it was very difficult to understand English and then I went to school and learned English. So now I am speaking English very well.
In my college where I am studying this is a very nice college to learn English. Our teachers are very interesting they are very helpful and all students are passing their exams. So it’s a very nice college and you should join.
Please consider it good advice and follow it.
Good luck with this and don’t hesitate to contact me for further information.

Hi Messaouda
How are you? Its really nice to hear from you and nice you are
coming to Brittan so you will contact the college as soon as possible when you are arrive here to get a space.
You have to study ESOL to learn English
because the life is too difficult in the UK if you do not speak English. For example you can’t by anything or you can’t go to the post office so that’s why you have to study English.
l remember when l
came to UK. l couldn’t speak and l couldn’t go anywhere. But l was studying at ESOL course
to learn English so now my English is very good and l am continuing to study. l am trying to make a good practice of my English all of the time and l am talking to English people very much to learn new words and to have a much more skill about the English
language .
So l hope when you are arrive here you can get a space at
college and learn English very soon.
See you soon

Hi Messaouda
It’s fantastic that you are coming to Britain.
I’m not sure that my English is as good as you think, but is not so bad. I’m living here over two years. After coming to England I’ve learned a lot a home. Next I’ve joined English class at college. I can develop my skills in written and spoken English as well. Every half term I have to pass an exam which is good to verify some progress or not.
Because I’m living here I’ve got the opportunity to practice my English every day: in shops, on the bus, in offices, in my son’s school etc. Sometimes it isn’t easy when people cannot understand you and opposite, but you cannot give up. Now, after two years I’m feeling more confident than before.
Let me know when you plan to come here because I can book your place in the English class in advance.
I’d better get going, as I’m late for work.
Write soon what dates you are coming.
Take care

Hi Messaouda
It’s nice to know you are coming to Britain next year.
Don’t worry about a lot, learning English its much easier when you live here, because you need to speak and understand everyday what the people say and every day you learn more. You can go to school to improve your English . I think the most difficult is
the writing. I went to school four days a week and my teacher was very helpful and you can get free nursery for your
children .
I hope to see you soon.

Hi Messauoda
I’m really glad to hear from you. I’m so happy that you are coming to Britain I can’t wait.
You asked me how I learned English. So, it wasn’t too difficult, I found a nice college in my city which I heard about from friends of mine. I went there to ask about English courses for me and next week I started my English lessons.
When I started my course I was thinking that English was very difficult especially English grammar. When you are writing you’ve got much more time to think, but in speaking I’ve done lots of grammar mistakes. In our language articles like a, an, the do not exist so it’s very difficult to remember about that. But don’t worry not everything is so difficult. When you are practicing English you stop thinking about grammar it’s starting to be automatic. You use words and sentences that you heard from others or found in the book. And every day you start to be more confident speaking with other people, what makes you feel really proud of yourself.
I hope that you will be enjoying your English lessons. I think that you can start learning English now. If you want I can send you some websites which you can use every day to learn some words and little bit of grammar.
Please let me now how your lessons are going. I would look for some course for you in my college. I can’t wait to see you here in England.
Have a nice day, write soon

Hello Messaouda ,
When I came to Britain I couldn’t speak and write and read
any thing , I started learning English . First
time it was too hard for me , because every thing was different with my language I found it very difficult .
I kept practicing English at college and my home I
always looked for new words ,and when I didn’t know what was the meaning of any word I
asked my teacher , hopefully my teacher would help me and answer all of my
questions. He told me what was good to do
to speak fluent English .
At the moment my English is not perfect and I think I will
never get perfect , because of spelling and I think it is not only me.
Most people have a problem with spelling ,I think the hardest thing to learn in English language is spelling .
You will probably learn English better then me ,coz you already know how to
speak English ,you will not have a lot of problems like I had .
I hope you will learn English very quickly .
See you soon ,,,

Good site for various days of the year….eg overpopulation day 11th July. Lots of reading!

Great site if you want to use a video resource. You can choose the video of the day or go to a region of the UK (fantastic if you want to vary accents). A variety of topics from homelessness to graffiti to relationships. Click on the archives for a quick search.

Great site, my favourites are News English (words in the news) and Watch and listen, both these are good for high level learners. There are areas for lower level learners too, check out the flatmates.

Interesting site, although it is not very colourful! Bi-lingual quizzes, even in Kurdish, Somali and Lingala. Has some basic grammar and vocab quizzes, which are good for independent study. My favourite is the Daily English Show, which changes every day, nice for some basic video and a Kiwi accent!
